This is marvelous. Class action alleges Walmart systematically puts one price on the shelf, and charges a little more at the cash register. Walmart claims consumers can see the prices actually charged, so no harm. CA7 rejects. www.law360.com/securities/a...

Meanwhile in Canada: If the scanner has a different price than the shelf price, the item is free (if it costs under $10), and if the price is over $10 you receive a $10 discount.

True. Although in Australia price tags show the GS-inclusive price. My understanding is that US price tags mostly exclude sales tax, which you get to discover at the check-out.

I feel like this really enables the whole scam, because consumers are so used to prices not matching they assume its their own maths skills that are lacking
