What’s weird about this days-long fight over journalists is that there are actual working journalists who talk about their complicity and doing something about it. Maureen Ryan’s “Burn It Down” has entire chapters where she talks about her role in promoting abusers through uncritical media fandom.

I think one of the funniest things earlier on in this site was the idea that only the Good People would come over from Twitter and that we'd have a utopia

Ask yourself how many times you've read some variations of "oh, I didn't know there was discourse about this I was just speaking generally at this very moment everyone was talking about it"

I just officially learned that someone I met a few months ago is a trans woman. I mean, we can generally clock each other, but I didn't want to assume out of weird biases or anything. 🤐

Every time there's discourse, a bunch of people who have no clue what's going on choose to Weigh In™ with their wonderful opinions about systemic issues. Every time, things get collapsed to the most basic levels, usually erasing trans women. People know this and build followings from it.

Oh good we're just gonna sit here and go "how did we get here" when every clueless fuck for over a year saw discourse about trannies and had to chime in with their own version of "white male privilege" to gain a following.
