Way too much reverence for top gov positions in this country. Winning an election or getting appointed by some dipshit doesn’t make you exceptional, people in other reasonable countries resign if they’re seen chuckling at an off-color joke, let alone publicly supporting the end of the democracy.

This!!!! The Presidency is a JOB. It doesn't mean anointed by god: it means elected. The Presidency is also term limited: it ends. And the former President remains what he always was: a mere citizen of the US. It's not shocking that Trump is being tried; it's shocking he held office.

The gap between how ACTUAL aristocratic, monarchial nation Britain treats members of its governing elite (open, casual contempt)... ...versus the almost fetishy devotion and reverence US media and others show to their US counterparts, is something people could and should talk about and study more.

One difference is, in a parliamentary system it's easier to swap out individuals, without much disadvantage to the party

People are just the doers of the policy! Fuck a Kennedy (or similar ilk) Bernie is fine and cool but I’m only on the bandwagon because of his direct stated views and record
