It’s just after 11 am in #Toronto and already someone’s cheap, tinny music is invading the ostensible serenity of the back garden … #noise

I have the same problem. That and wind chimes. I prefer the cheap tinny music to the cheap tinny windchimes. I hates them, I do.
Avatar
Agreed. Fortunately there are no wind chimes around here- - at the moment…

We have both. Often at the same time. So annoying!

It is sad. Go ahead, enjoy your music as much and as loudly as you want, but confine it to your own dwelling. Nothing gives you the right to inflict it on me.

buy yourself a pair of headphones and blow your own head off 🤯 if you must… I say

Yes! It seems so simple, but so many people don’t seem to get it. I think it stems from a selfish attitude. They want to hear their music, so they just crank it up without considering the impact on others. (Fortunately it was quiet and still when I had the opportunity to visit Zion National Park)

I sent them a sub-woofer. Let me know if it helps.

Thanks (sarcasm), Jamie. Happy Canada Day, regardless!

It's one of the things I notice more and more here in the city. Summertime is super noisy.

Yes. I just got back from a couple of days in the country - where authentic silence is possible - and it’s really bugging me, even more than usual.
Avatar
That would do it. I find coming back from the cottage to be more depressing then it's ever been. I think the older I get the more I appreciate silence and peaceful quiet reflection.

Yes, I feel the same way, and also have an increasing appreciation for being in nature.

“Extraordinary how potent cheap music is” —from Private Lives by Noël Coward I feel your pain, Don 🫂

Thanks for the empathy. (I’ve always loved that line. Potent for both good and evil)

I adore NC Private Lives is such a fun play Oh and I adore cheap and hella- spendy music, almost all music really
Avatar
Yes, it’s (almost) all good, cheap or otherwise. As someone else said, “Life without music would be a mistake.” (I rather like Blythe Spirits, as well)

I drives me right round the bend when people feel we all want to hear their poor music choices on shitty, tinny cell phone speakers inside TTC vehicles. GET. SOME. DAMN. HEADPHONES.
