Wired has changed so much since I used to work there. I remember when shotshpotter first launched they did a big feature about how cool it was and how it was going to be this utopian policing technology. It's good to see this evolution to truth to power.
Kinda fucked that it doesn't include a link to the data so other people could reproduce their findings. I find it ironic that Wired is choosing to gatekeep it while claiming to reveal it.

pretty standard that we hand stuff like that over to researchers upon request. but i think the company is particularly litigious. but anyway, i think as you
demonstrated it’s not difficult to acquire. love your maps, btw.
We were told about them in my neighborhood, we even wanted them, afaik now there has even been less gun violence in the community too. It's been great o0
