I have recently instituted a rule where I no longer take seriously anyone whose profession is to commentate on politics *and* sports. Automatic disqualification. It is a rule I should have instituted for myself a decade ago but better late than never.
If for no other reason, turn out to vote to spite the “men who have never done anything but sniff their own farts” club.

One benefit of living on the Upper West Side is the constant stream of idiotic tourists you're exposed to for entertainment purposes. Like the Australian lady who angrily sent back her breakfast because she was unfamiliar with challah and mistook it for poorly baked sourdough.

Public opinion has shifted pretty rapidly against the Supreme Court's impartiality in just two years (I wonder why!). Another term or two of this and major reforms to the court could well prove an incredibly popular electoral plank. apnews.com/article/supr...

The 8th Ave sidewalk expansions have been some of the best streetscape improvements of his administration and an obvious win for all involved so of course he's opposed to doing more of it.
"The roadway once carried between four and six lanes for motor vehicles, despite 88 percent of people in the area traveling on foot and squeezing into 30 percent of the space." And now Adams wants to give it back to cars?
Mayor Adams May Nix Sidewalk Expansions on Bustling Eighth Ave. - Streetsblog New York Citynyc.streetsblog.org Mayor Eric Adams cast doubt on years of city efforts to give pedestrians more space to walk on overcrowded Eighth Avenue.

I am not pointing this out to excuse anything. But the way news editors think about the news is whether it is...well, new. Comparing volume of coverage of Biden's debate performance to Project 2025 wouldn't make sense to a news editor, because one just happened and the other was revealed a year ago.

One thing my in-laws' family, who emigrated here from England, always remark about U.S. schools is how they teach kids to have an opinion or to speak up or say something, with no regard to the actual veracity or logic of what they say or write. And it's so reflective of our society in general.
If you paid attention to Trump's side of the debate, he had the same underlying problem Biden did, where over and over he would start a sentence and realize he couldn't say or remember the words that would come next, but where Biden stalled out, Trump just switched to blurting something unrelated
End of feed.
