When I started watching Elementary I was hoping for some nice low effort network procedural with a couple of pretty good actors and I was not expecting an extremely sympathetic and nuanced portrayal of recovery and addiction
Haven't watched Elementary, but it amuses me how its reputation and that of BBC's Sherlock have completely switched places compared to when both first started airing.
I am a Sherlock Holmes fan so I watched it expecting it to be mildly entertaining so I can have it on while I do my workout, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was well done.
Your occasional reminder that SHERLOCK was a hobby and ELEMENTARY was a proper piece of work. Also, that’s the amazing Zoë Keating as the incidental music, which I’d forgotten.
It's not a slight to the show itself, my gal showed me bits and they were highly entertaining (especially dressing up the tortoise!)
...buuut Mind Palace self-indulgent wankfest Sherlock was out at the time, and I wasn't interested in the slightest.
But I did see a tortoise dressed up as a shark.
