Small towns in the United States are mostly dying and exist on graft and incredibly low rates of agricultural return and medicare fraud

Really rough when you want post-1920s things in your small town and you don't actually make anything that people want.

In some towns it's the politicians doing the graft. where I live we have some potentially desirable things (some manufacturing of ag implements, and recreation, and a tribal casino) but our infrastructure is crumbling because so many of the politicians in the region are dipping in to the cookie jar
