You'd think that the engineers developing it would understand that if you need this UX to introduce a feature that's a good indication that your feature isn't solving a problem users have

The engineers might, but the business leaders are pushing them to do it anyway

I just hope the engineers are compiling a bunch of reports saying that people are behaving in ways that clearly indicate they don't want it - on FB, I let the stupid AI rewrite one post just to see how it works, then never used it again.

FB also lied in their metrics to push people to video. So, I would not be surprised if the execs or middle management did the same with AI

Still, there's a perverse delightfulness in watching the company that was so famous for engineering driving it's software and decisions do this in a manner clearly devoid of those things. Its like watching the Straumli Perversion unfold from the other side of the Beyond.

Considering the havoc that's played out in the gaming industry, I'd rather not have another software based industry get even worse. It's not like this is new, these companies drove surveillance capitalism.

This kind of reminds me of Dr Botson in Teams at work. I tried to tell it to stop sending me messages. I don't really care about the messages but they would show up in the taskbar as notifications like everything else.

Got that message and instantly marked it as spam. Which I'm kinda surprised it let me do.

When this message appeared in my Messages app, I think it pretty much sealed the deal that my next phone would be an iPhone.
