This right here is why we will blast straight through 1.5° and 2°C and more. The science: “Limiting warming to 1.5°C and 2°C involves rapid, deep and in most cases immediate GHG reductions.” People: “To solve climate change, we need to make gradual, step-by-step changes to our society.” 🧪

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

It's a propaganda site. By going there you are absorbing propaganda chosen by an evil billionaire. Maybe you think you are a very special boy who, unlike other human beings, is immune to being influenced by propaganda so it's okay!
real twitter you could pretty tightly curate what you saw and vichy twitter it’s like being stuck on your dipshit uncle’s facebook page

I SAW JOE BIDEN BEING OLD, what a fucking brilliant revelation, did that take you 3 or 5 minutes to come up with? “i would walk through hell to vote for the corpse of joe biden before ever voting for trump” is the base dem voter, maybe at least talk to a couple of them before you fucking kneel

that last part is important, they did a co-endorsement of two candidates who were never going to win in 2020, these people are rich idiot debutants entertaining each other, they aren’t fucking talking to *you*
when you start asking questions about the fucking boogeyman the fucking boogeyman loses his power. candyman isn’t real. NYT columnists absolutely do not predict the future of elections, and they are legitimately very bad at it.

I dunno, I think if Thomas fucking Friedman tells you to do something, then that's a pretty clear hint that the opposite course of action is the one to take.

Biden ending his campaign is one thing; Biden *resigning* would mean: a) endless GOP House "investigations" on Kamala Harris "covering up" Biden's mental state; b) the GOP House and broken Senate both have to confirm the new VP, they won't, and GOP will blame Dems. It's simply not a viable plan.

Anyone claiming to know the results of something that happens more than 4 months from now can be safely ignored. These are not serious people.

Some conversations used against him took place while he was president, so Trump's attorneys will argue those conversations are now inadmissible. A cynical person might conclude the SCOTUS decision was carefully crafted to inflict the maximum feasible chaos on *all* of Trump's criminal cases.

There is precedent. 'President Donald Trump commended the U.S. Marshals for shooting Reinoehl, describing it as "retribution", and claiming to have personally "sent in" the U.S. Marshals to "get" Reinoehl during the first presidential debate with Joe Biden.'

This actually happened. For real. Trump wanted this guy killed and federal marshals mercilessly shot him dead in the street very shortly thereafter. And, bragged in a debate.
He bragged in a debate about ordering the Marshalls to kill Michael Reinoehl

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.
My friend and colleague Ken White has written a great thread describing some (but far from all) of the enormous problems with today's decision by Chief Justice Roberts granting Donald Trump criminal immunity on grounds never before accepted by any court. Today's decision threatens the Republic.

This is why we need more peoplewith terrible personalities in politics. I have zero problem doing this, because I have no charisma and don't care what people think of me as a person. Put me up there and I'll make Trump stroke out within half an hour.

indeed precisely because it won't happen--it *obviously* is not going to happen that biden steps out--that it becomes the locus of their obsession. they need to fixate on something impossible "that would totally save us all" because then they'll never have to be wrong

Guys. I am not a quant person but even I know that pushing a sub sample of a larger phone poll from early in June with a 0.8% response rate, where no one who ignores unlabeled numbers on their cellphone responded, tells you nothing about the electorate. Stop letting bad polls drive your politics.

It’s the way people *refuse* to actually voice why they’re quite certain Kamala is a non-starter that really gets me. I know why I’m not a fan, former prosecutor-reliable centrist (derogatory)-convoluted and ultimately useless economic policy, but that’s a *lot* of people’s whole jam, until now.
