A viral blog post from an FTC lawyer warned companies to stop advertising AI as "having feelings." It was a truly funny post! It also reveals why Silicon Valley is so afraid of Biden — and backing a fascist like Trump. Tech is becoming scam-dependent. www.salon.com/2024/06/24/a...

Why to read past headlines: If you haven't seen the FTC post that was so funny it went viral. But, for a short and readable article, I get into how all tech is getting scammier. And how the Biden administration is cracking down. So tech turns to con artist Trump. www.salon.com/2024/06/24/a...

I'm really proud of this one. A lot of ink has been spilled on how Silicon Valley is failing to innovate, and turning to enshittification and shady products like cryptocurrency and AI. But I tie it to politics and why it's turning tech billionaires fascist. www.salon.com/2024/06/24/a...

"Joe Biden's administration has made shutting down consumer fraud a majority priority. "Rather than dial back the shady behavior, the tech industry is turning to Donald Trump, a man whose entire business career was built on fraud, to save them." www.salon.com/2024/06/24/a...

"Turns out the meanie bears in the Biden administration don't like it when you tell lonely men a computer screen can replace a girlfriend. "Trump, however, will never get between a con artist and his victim." www.salon.com/2024/06/24/a...

These people read/watched/absorbed cyberpunk media and narratives and walked away only with the lesson: "it's a great version of Hell to rule over."

I'd recommend reading the article, which helps explain why now, when most of them read those books decades ago.

I did, I liked it, it was excellent. I wasn't trying to disagree, or "well actually" anything, though in retrospect, it does come off as such, for that I apologize.

I agree. It's a very compelling argument I've not seen in the same form until now. Well done!

The sad part is it need not be this way. Plenty of talented ppl out there and real problems they could be working on. VCs are determined to only run scams bc scams have better returns in the short term than real stuff.

Biden really does need to go harder on touting his anti-scam programs - "junk fees" is good, but not enough, and this is uniquely one place where there is zero downside.

And also remember 3 Amazon executives are being sued PERSONALLY as well as Amazon as a company for Prime related fraud.

Becoming? When Netscape showed you didn't need a profitable company to go public and cash out, that was the start. It's been a nearly 30 year slide, but it's not new.
