beautiful work (me, I can’t tolerate cooked onions that are still crunchy)

I’m super into fine dining and cooking but as I have pointed out to people, you pretty much never encounter Slimy Not Fully Cooked Onions at really good restaurants….(at home, I either grate onions or run em’ through a Cuisinart or blend sauces with onion chunks when finished)

Absolutely, most good restaurants take their time. I use an immersion blender pretty religiously to make sure things are my required texture! Before culinary school I could probably eat 5-7 things, total. Learning how to make things to *my* taste opened up a lot, but I still have a bunch of no-go’s.

Pickled red onions are my favorite, but that still fits within the same deets

Oh my god you made a cookbook for people with ARFID?! I am SO excited to get my copy, thanks for making this and for sharing it here!
Avatar
It’s for people with food avoidance or sensory sensitivities of any and all causes (with a big focus on ARFID)! I wrote what I needed growing up and just hope to help folks with similar needs today. 🥺💜

The Nephewlet is *VERY* excited to have "his own cookbook". He loves to help out in the kitchen, and he's already picking recipes to try.

Two neurodivergent offspring with different texture and taste aversions…

So relatable! My son has entirely different food aversions from my own. 💜

Thank you for writing this book!

You’re very welcome! 🥺 I wrote the book I needed growing up, so I just hope it helps folks with similar needs today. 💜

My husband loves to cook but doesn’t always understand the texture issues. This seems like an awesome bridge for understanding
Avatar
This should be perfect for that! The first half of the book is a guide and toolkit, explaining the “why’s” and “how’s.” 💜

No worries. I know several people who're likely to be very interested in your book. :)

That’s awesome, and I hope they love it and find it useful! 🥺💜

I just asked my wife and daughter to buy this book. They both hate veggies.

Would you please write critiques of The Bear from an autistic perspective so I can finally read someone who understands what I keep banging on about but have no kitchen expertise to justify it?
Avatar
I just wrote a bit about it earlier! bsky.app/profile/mbro...
I can’t watch The Bear. Culinary school was very hard for me for a lot of reasons (food aversions being one of them) and I’m just not suited to a fast-pace kitchen environment. The episodes are a panic attack waiting to happen for me.

YESSSSSSSS thankyouthankyouthankyou My AuDHD son and I are so hype for S3 but we have Big Thoughts!

There are definitely some Autistic folk who are better able to handle working in a kitchen (generally those who are more sensory/stimulation seeking), and I can do it until I hit a wall and the sensory overload becomes too much!

Purchased 1 day ago I'm looking forward to reading it. (My apologies for not having started reading your book yet, I'm having some unrelated difficulties. I don't mean any offence.)

I have never bought a cookbook so fast.

Thank you so much! 🥺 I hope you love it and find it helpful!!! 💜
