I think the X trilogy is a loose themed trilogy, like Gates of Hell or the Apocalypse trilogy. In that, each movie is completely different than the others, and are loosely related to them. It's not direct sequels I think that's the best way to enjoy them

okay what in the anime cyberpunk is going on I was just walking down the street at night, two motorcycle's zipped past and their helmets were giant furry brown fuzz helmets with rabbit eats that went up and down animatronically and twitched and had giant glowing x's for eyes

it's weird telling my kids that yes, alternative music was a label invented in the 90's, and didn't exist before then. Before then it was mostly called college music, but that wasn't official and wasn't a genre category at Sam Goodies or whatever

"vampires are usually aristocratic" No, you're thinking Dracula. Most vampires aren't in fiction

huh. a lot of my favorite horror movies this year were from NEON

horror feels very healthy right now, in a way it didn't in the past. Both in books and movies it's varied, there are all sorts of horror for different kinds of readers and viewers. Unlike in the past, where we got people chasing after popular things and trying to repeat them ad nauseam

The art world asked two questions when photography got underway: "Is this art?" and "What if we photograph people's paintings?" People did not usually say "this is the wave of the future, adapt or die!!!111!!" People were adapting just fine- to tubed paints and man made pigments.

Lots of heavy thoughts & ruminations already today on various discourse and it's still so early... Going to be an interesting day. Be kind to each other as we all fight against the real monsters. 🖤 And of course, Hail Satan, and yourselves 😈

ah, not on bluesky, thankfully. Block and mute and sleep well at night

Rosemary's Baby works so well because it follows the formula of a classic gothic, with the way it ratchets the paranoia up and tightens the noose. But does it in a completely unique and unusual way

sex isn't enough, i need fog and overcast skies and the darkness between trees (ones that shake in the wind like rattled bones, whose branches once housed the hangman's noose) and maybe a graveyard, but only if one's available
Sex isn't enough, I need to be eaten by a werewolf

ps- the paranormal aspects where the ones I loved the most about Longlegs, so neener neener

also funny that both Maxxxine and Longlegs *were* satanic panic movies, but neither of them were advertised as such
Avatar
You know. One of these weeks, before they're out of theaters, I might do a double showing of Maxxxine and Longlegs at my theater on tuesday, which is a half price day. Just to rewatch them both again.

someone just said "x is not a scary movie, but it left me unsettled and I had nightmares and couldn't sleep well" that means you were scared, my dude. Own it. You were scared.

I noticed less sea lioning today and no more follows from spam bots and porn bots okay, me thinks that last wave of new people is almost over

I think google getting rid of Google Reader was the start of the end of google being something of use for regular users, and not just a place to put ads

The @apexmag.bsky.social KS is still more than 2000 from the initial goal that funds half the year. Our wonderful managing editor, @retreasure.bsky.social, injured herself a few days ago and is uncomfortable. Can we make her feel better by hitting that 15k starting goal so we can start stretching??

wishing that other social media sites (like fb) had the robust block and mute tools of bluesky this morning

pst- RSS readers still exist. I mourn google reader, too. But there were readers before it, and readers that still exist after it.
I just realized today that I don't really use a search engine at all anymore these days. Or very rarely. Huh. I have my RSS feeds for news, I have social media for talking with friends and catching up. If I want to research something, I now use books and the library or go right to wikipedia

made the mistake of returning to Twitter earlier this year and it feels like I’m actively engaging in evil whenever I’m using it. literally a place owned by someone who wants trans people dead. what the fuck are we doing there. why are we still participating in this clown show
Avatar
it's weird I want to read or watch tv to relax, and all I can do is think about Longlegs. it's that kind of movie
