🚀 Parking reform is sweeping the nation. At the end of 2020 there were 16 US cities that had eliminated costly parking mandates. Now at least 69 have discarded these damaging and arbitrary rules! The best is yet to come!

Get through just one or two days without having to hear about something terrible NY/NYC is doing with transportation challenge.

i'm sorry, this is an area where i am just completely unwilling to compromise. i think speeding and reckless driving are profoundly antisocial acts that are DEMONSTRABLY PROVEN to result in TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DEATHS every year in car and pedestrian crashes. this seems bad to me.

if you don't like the idea of a traffic camera snapping a photo of your car for speeding there is a very easy solution

Paying to park doesn’t make it “more difficult” to park. If done right it should make it easier to find a spot where you want it.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is a parking garage with a funny hat. The garage cost $110M to build ($50k a stall in 1996 dollars) and almost bankrupted the whole project. The hall itself was built 8 years later and cost $130M. The number of shows per year is calibrated to pay for the garage bond.

In January, the small village of Muir, MI adopted their first zoning code including this “Zoning Bill of Rights” and it’s great! No parking mandates, ever. No exclusionary zoning, ever. Residential allowed on every lot. Mixed use allowed on every lot. If you’re gonna have zoning, this is the way.

Earlier this year we consulted with Councillor Hobbs on this effort and @tonyjordan.bsky.social gave a presentation to their planning commission in August to help get this over the finish line!

The first $5 of every grocery store transaction should be free and it should cost $5 to park a car at the grocery store.

Rent should be 5% of your income and a parking permit should be 25% of your income.

Tuition should be free at universities but a parking pass should cost $30,000 a year.
