I made this blanket earlier during the pandemic (when we couldn't go anywhere but we could receive mail so I bought yarn) and it's so warm it's keeping me toasty as I lay ON it. I only pulled it over to take photos.

it's a very yarn-hungry project - you knit two strands held together - but it also goes quickly and makes a BIG blanket that's very stretchy as it's knit on the bias.
I made one for a friend baby and one for my sibling and one for me (which my folks low-key want).
I got a ginormous box of yarn.
it's a constant increase (and then decrease) but other than that, it's 100% garter and easy-peasy plus it keeps you toasty warm while you make it!
I use Mighty Stitch for it mostly b/c it's so cheap and the colours are great (and they have a project calculator for it), but it's not my fave yarn.
I have been thinking about making a blanket but I can't figure out what I would want to knit for that long. I thought about a stitch sampler blanket but that seems like expecting future me to stick with something I might not want to.
also, in my experience, stitch samplers require sewing things together, which is just anathema to knitting imho
I have really only made garter and stockinette blankets because they're speedy fast to make. Oh wait, and chevrons (which are just knit-purl zig zags).
They take less time than a sweater
I don't love bulky knits so far but I made all these decisions in my 20s so I'm willing to reevaluate everything, but I'm always so torn about the outlay for a blanket.
Ok this is the book and some of the sample photos. Plus I'll include a picture of a blanket I made from one of the patterns. All super easy, mostly K and P. They call for big needles and double strands but I just used like a 6 or 6.5 and however many stitches I preferred (with the right multiplier).

Probably size 6 needles, medium weight yarn, Loops & Threads brand has a type called Soft & Shiny, pretty sure that's what I used for the blue and white blanket. Synthetic but cozy. My cats do like it!
