Nah ATLANTA is amazing, both as Southern Gothic and social critique, I just don't want to consume ATLANTA-level social critique all the time.

It’s so good. Even the “fall off” final season has stuff I think about all the time, like the black sushi restaurant and the Tyler Perry megalomaniac who can’t be hurt by throwing grits on him (“I’ve built up a tolerance.”)
I still think about the “Free Hugs” sign and “is hugs your dad?” joke all the time. Did a legit spit take when I watched it

i've heard good things & would like to see it. Glover was also lovably goofy on Community but i think he's reaching for something that's not there w this interpretation of Mr & Mrs Smith

my recollection of it is that it was kind of the shark-jump of early aughts "marquee star" tentpole movies bc it was so massively hyped & guilelessly tropey -- a dumbass's idea of a smart action/romance

that's just it, it was all goss sizzle & no cinematic steak! a total dud if not for the bts drama

i think its biggest problem was that everything it did, True Lies had kinda done already. just derivative "but this one goes to 11" premise
