There’s an obvious undercurrent in all of this suggesting that whatever the Democrats do to resolve this problem needs to be entertaining to journalists. And I gotta be honest I’m not sure that’s very important.

Also, media ego. Much of the energy in political coverage is about throwing around weight and hoping to influence events and reactions. The GOP is a brick wall in refusing to take media bait, so there is nobody else to influence.

The political angles aside, this idea is unrealistic on purely logistically angles alone. Holding 50 large events on extremely short notice is incredibly difficult and expensive. I work in events. I know what I'm talking about.

I think a lot of Americans want politics to be boring. Aside from how it's serious business and treated as such, a lot of people don't want to pay attention to it more than necessary.
