People really need to give up the idea that politicians have the power to 'sell' their actions to the public. Regardless of what he says, Biden's message will be filtered through the media and boiled down into horse-race headlines. It will be *very* obvious he's stepping aside after a bad debate.

I think Biden could easily sell stepping aside. "I have served my country for 52 years. As many Americans know first hand, it is hard to admit when you've slowed down." Then talk about spending time w/ grandchildren, efforts best spent fulfilling elected duties, VP Harris is well-prepared, I endorse

I think it’s telling that if you search “Trump AND rape” on the New York Times website you don’t get a single article mentioning the E. Jean Carroll case but if you search “Biden AND old” you get 18,026 hits.

I think what makes this difficult to discuss with any kind of rigor is that Biden staying in is bad and Biden dropping out is also bad! There are no good options available so we’re all flailing to figure out which bad thing is gonna be like 15% better than the worse thing

Outside of letting Kamala take the reins, I don’t see an option beside keeping Biden in. Running a cut rate primary right now would be a disaster. And I’m saying this as someone who reeeeaaaally doesn’t want to vote for Biden but probably will because *gestures at everything*.

Giving up the incumbent advantage because a bunch of disingenuous and/or nihilistic journos have condemned Biden like he's an old building seems the dumbest thing imaginable. Biden wasn't my choice in the 2020 primaries, but he's the president now, and just being the president is a big advantage.

The TERF argument relies entirely on secret, unprovable assertions. As long as everyone else is a secret pervert, they can be discounted. They deny it? That's exactly what a secret pervert WOULD say.

The thread she's responding to isn't particularly helpful either. I think the reason some men are criticizing TERFs is because trans people can already access bathrooms and women's shelters and we don't see them committing sexual assault! TERFs are lying; that's why they're being criticized.
