I’ve only ever seen “rufous” to describe the color of birds. Is it ever used to describe other ruddy-colored things?
There are quite a few mammals with "rufous" in their common names too (and the bobcat's scientific name is Lynx rufus).
I've seen it used to describe moons of other planets, and Kuiper Belt objects that are reddish
Ed, not to say that I didn't appreciate your thorough and continuous work on covid (because I did, it was vital and so valuable) but I'm loving this bird adventure for you.
