The Fireside Bowl: An unlikely place for punks of all ageswww.wbez.org About 30 years ago, a run-down bowling alley hosted its first few punk shows. Then, for a little over a decade it became the all-ages heart of Chicago’s indie scene.

This is great, John. I really appreciated the opening talk, it's so accurate. There are so many granular details of time and subculture here. Also: in New York in the 80s we had Krishna clowns on the subway. Di these exist anywhere else?

I was late to the party and unfortunately never got there before it closed but if you love music in Chicago you know of the Fireside… sure to get a rise out of a crowd like that.

I saw the locust with Chinese stars there and it was chaos. Loved every second of it. Great venue
