I'm proud to have worked with editor @emilylauer.bsky.social and @wwacomics.bsky.social on my essay "Nature and War Memory in Machiko Kyō’s Cocoon," a heartbreaking graphic novel about the Pacific War with an animated adaptation scheduled for Summer 2025. womenwriteaboutcomics.com/2024/07/mach...

Honoured Kirkus gave LONG LIVE EVIL a STARRED review, calling it an adventure of tremendous wonder, laugh-out-loud, & heartbreaking. LONG LIVE is funny & weird, & I want people to take it seriously & have a GREAT time. This means so much.

"We are the people we've been waiting for" isn't just for politics, it's also for cat tours. And also for politics. (The article only briefly alludes to how much political stuff John coordinates, organizes, and promotes.)

Starting in July, I'll be reading all of Diana Wynne Jones's books in publication order in a year! This project is based largely on a pal's "Year on Discworld" readthrough in 2023. I'll be writing about it every month over at @wwacomics.bsky.social and if you want to read along, let me know!

Whose Names are Unknown is a fantastic novel - beautiful writing, interesting plot and characters, and also: it’s short.
#TIL that Sanora Babb's research on Dust Bowl camps was shared without her knowledge or permission, to John Steinbeck, whose novel The Grapes of Wrath made it to the shelves before her Whose Names Are Unknown . . . and as a result, hers was shelved and not published until *2004*.

I wrote about Evil Eyes Sea! Looking at a bunch of these roundups at once, apparently I thrive on extremely tense graphic narrative?

We need to stop calling it AI. Its not a fact bot. Its a generative language machine. Just making things that look like an answer. No fact checking involved. Thats not how they are programmed. People need to learn this.

@tkingfisher.bsky.social I’m reading an arc of A Sorceress Comes to Call (and it’s FABULOUS) and noticed that both it and Nettle & Bone mention an embroidery stitch called a cranefly knot! What? Is? A cranefly knot????
