Late to this post but running water and birth control drastically changed human sexual habits for the better, but also introduced a bunch of weird sex notions because all the sudden people were expected to stick to sex only with similar-aged partners over a lifetime.
I find it very amusing when the worst people are like “Its Just Biological men cant control not being cheaters/pressuring women for sex” when the medieval view was generally “unlike men, women are super horny and will absolutely bang the scarecrow if left unattended”
Women when scientist study them and when their porn habits are looked at, are still hornier and kinkier than men. By a long shot.
It’s the kind of porn that is banned for being too violent by governments. That’s the kind that has majority female audience.
Experiencing violence is much different than imagining yourself dealing it out to someone, and attracts very different personalities/emotional responses. The BDSM community forever has that problem.
women are more sensitive to body horror than men tho. Which I find actually extremely interesting. It’s why less women than men watch horror but when women do, they are more into vampires than men.
Vampires going from metaphors for sexual assault (male-written), to metaphors for various types of forbidden sex (female-written), is probably a really interesting literature study.
All the cis women I knew were into werewolves: the idea that they could finally have a vehicle for their rage, I think
As for body horror...there's something growing inside you, put there by someone else, it's literally eating you alive and everyone says you have to love it or you're evil.
In general, male sexuality is heavily stereotyped (same way female sexuality is). In general male aggressive is overhyped in the same way female submission is overhyped. American sexuality is also way commercialized because that's only culturally-appropriate venue, or so we've decided.
