I love his work. I would have stood in front of Las Meninas for hours, but it would have been rude considering the crowd. I did stand for a good hour or more in front of Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights. Oddly, no one else spared a glance at it.
there was a goya exhibition i went to at a museum on the southern methodist university campus back in 1983 or 84. they had dozens of etchings from his various series as well as most of the so-called "black paintings".
beautiful and brutal, goya's body of work is truly a picture of the time.
