just want to point out how a majority of the plot of real genius revolves around the age of consent being 15

oh cool, the kid really was 15 irl, and he makes out with two irl 23year olds

one character says she’s been waiting 3 years to make out with his character. You know, the 15yo playing a 15yo

Isn't that the majority plot of the 80's?

maybe not as blatantly, but usually the ages in question are at least similar. This movie has *significant* age gaps with adults verbally announcing they’re going after a literal child

It been a while since I saw this one, but now I'm picturing someone rubbing their hands together evilly and saying "Gonna commit some statutory".

An adult woman waits in the 15yo’s dorm room and says to him “I’ve been waiting 3 years for this” then kisses him without consent. So you know, she’s been waiting since he was 12.

So it’s pretty much how you described

Never seen it. What, in the blue fuck?

it’s a fun movie I jsut never watched it all the way with captions before. Theres so many movies lately where I realized I have been missing most of what’s said, and have been relying on context clues until now. This is… bizarre

I unironically love that movie, but each watch I have to pretend Mitch is 18 just to make it through at least 3 scenes.

I love it too but always think “This could’ve been perfect if you’d just taken out those exact subplots.”

It's no wonder people who grew up then have issues understanding consent. This kind of shit was everywhere back then. Nothing like growing up and realizing at least two of your childhood favorite movies depict literal rape for laughs.

yeah they def got the wrong message

I'm in a group that likes to watch all kinds of weird, older movies, this is prime intel

To clarify, I'm older, and I forget this stuff, we'll get into a movie and it's like "whoa...."
