I don't think he should drop out OR resign, but if it really has to come to that, resignation is absolutely the way to go. Don't play it as quitting, play it as a noble inspiring Passing of the Torch in a big public ceremony with Obama and Pelosi and like Taylor Swift or whatever. Go big.
