The book sellers want the book price stickers to really stick so dishonest customers don't switch them between low cost and high cost books to save a little money for themselves at the expense of the book sellers.
Happens with other products, too.
Yes, people do that. That's why price stickers are made to be difficult to impossible to peel off.
You know those stickers that tear off as several narrow strips instead of in one piece? That exactly why they're made that way – to make them non-transferable.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy: "He makes adhesives for book price stickers. Book price stickers are very hard to remove once stuck. HE must make strong adhesives."
