Ok, I've been posting some of my best photos from 2023 but of course they don't all look like that! And honestly the failed photos entertain me as much as the good ones. So here is my favorite #WorstBirdPic of 2023
Once, in San Jose (California), while driving on hwy 85, I saw the silhouette of a bird that made NO SENSE to me: wide wings, long legs stretched out, long neck stretched out, weird-looking head.
When I got back home I confirmed... someone in the area has a flamingo.
(I should clarify -- my confirmation was multiple people reporting seeing a flying flamingo; nobody knew who it belonged to, or where it considered home. But none of the herons in the area look like a flamingo when flying.)
@foobly.bsky.social didn't believe me until I got home and pointed out the other sightings.
It would have been much better if I'd been able to see any color, but all I saw was the outline.
Blurry Hospital Window Peregrine Falcoln reporting for duty!
Although my photography skills and camera leave much to be desired, this bird did make a lot of blood cancer patients and their families happy.
It is, honestly! I know I like to joke about “seen the eagles” but!!! They were extirpated from the county when I was a kid and now they’re regular nesters.
😂 Reminds me of a time when I was little and my siblings and I were given disposable cameras to use on vacation, at the beach. Theirs were fun vacation photos. My entire roll was shorebirds from about 40 feet away with the built in 35mm lens. Similar size in the frame as those eagles.
#WorstBirdPic in 2017 I was lucky to watch 2 maybe Downey Woodpeckers snack among branches in the tree right in front of my seat on the porch. Finally grabbed my phone for the pic!🪶
This is a picture of Mars. Yes, really! It went like this: “this stupid 🤬🤬🤬tripod won’t work right ima fix it oh crap did I just hit the shutter release?”
