While many ducks have a coloured wing patch, the Northern Shoveler said “give me two!” Add the green head, the spoon-like bill and the orange feet, and they are a package! This male northern shoveler decided to fly to the other side of the marsh to check out the foraging options!🪶

Happy independence day to all who remember why we declared independence and a very fuck off to those who think kings are good actually.

Wrote all but one of my articles today (usually Sat. is writing day) b/c I flat out won't have the concentration Sat. to write. I imagine there will be many, many mistakes in next week's edition *sigh* (I have to do all the building of it on Sun, no option)

Lemme just check the weath-- 😱 Really wishing I had central AC right now I DO have 2 free standing ACs and a window unit but - in 3 different rooms so...yeah you have to live RIGHT in front of one of them on days like these and I can only afford to have one of them running at any given time

I think this part of it but I feel a bigger part is that masks remind us of vulnerability and collective action and the failure of our institutions to step up for us, and the people in charge *really* want us to sink back into complacency, apathy, and despair instead of pushing for change

I really believe the increase in anti-masking we’re seeing across different political levels is tied to a desire to make things easier for the police surveillance state. To me, it’s the only thing that explains the shift from understanding masks keep us safe when dealing with respiratory illness.

What's funny and fucked is IIRC the creator of the game, who I believe was a woman, created the game as ANTI CAPITALISM. It's designed to show the progression and evils of capitalism in a winner take all system. The number of family fights over Monopoly is legion.

Through my childhood, on election nights, my dad was the man under Peter Snow’s desk putting interesting facts on notecards into his socks. That’s how it was done before Google, kids. You got a very clever ASD man with some Oxford degrees to just remember interesting constituency histories.
