On of my friends pulled this out of the Thames around Brentford. We’re calling him Norbert and we’re trying to help him get home. If you’ve lost a weird wood guy please get in touch. RTs appreciated

Just spent half an hour dealing with a query from someone one WA about their "friend's" issue (I know it's not them). After about 10 messages "oh, best we leave it to my friend to deal with". Lucky I had nothing else to do in my life, I suppose.

Sorry, it's all questions this week, and no fun stuff (do I even post fun stuff, dunno). Any of the politics team know if the LDs have published their list of 'appointments' - who's taking which briefs - yet. I can't find it, but may be looking in the wrong places. Asking for a friend? Many thanks

So, I think when my editor asked me to do a long list of Tory policy screw ups since 2010, he was expecting something funny? The reality was... not particularly funny.

Anyone who uses Apple Music please? If it’s loaded an album as Various Artists but it is by one person, how do I edit it? I used to know how in iTunes, but this is messy. Also, anyone know about synching uploads across family members - please

newsletter's out. This week: everything that worries me about the upcoming Labour landslide. Also: an animal that doesn’t throw its young; and a map of where Europe’s rail network won’t go.

I don't know who needs to know this, but my autocorrect in Word corrects Sunak to Sunk - every time.

It's that time of year when any attempt to go for a walk or run (or cycle, I guess) has to take account of whether or not it's nap time for the cygnets and ducklings. I think I can handle an angry duck parent, but I'm not trying it on with a swan.

None of this is breaking my belief that his PR people dislike him even more than the electorate.

Please get on with it ... this is nauseating

Hello lovely people. In the before times, if your glasses prescription changed, you could give your old glasses to the optician for those in need. Apparently that all stopped with Covid. Does anyone know a sensible (hopefully charitable) thing to do with glasses no longer required? (in the UK) TIA

Accepted a friend request from someone I was at school with. First post I saw from him was this. Thought ‘uh-oh’, then read it...

NHS at its best this morning. Troubled mind calmed, scary procedure not that scary - back home and breakfasted by 11.30am. Everyone cheerful, caring, professional - just great - and staffed from about 5 or 6 different home nations, I would say.

I apologise for the weather. Yesterday afternoon we decided (I decided) to switch the heating off.

Was on hold to Future Pensions for 15 mins. Very helpful staff member, but she can't answer my question because they don't have that information - yet. Now on hold 20 mins and counting to HMRC in case they Do have the information. And they wonder why people dislike sorting out tax affairs.

We are going to have to rethink and re-sort some things. I'm fairly sure that when I was a child the rhyme did not go: "Red sky at night, pisssing with rain all night."

Some days things happen, or you hear about things happening, and it sort of puts things in perspective a bit. Many of us are much luckier than we think. [Not to trivialise at all, just feeling all the feels for someone else.]

Has had a bit of a morning one way and another - nothing serious. Managed to take a break and have two boiled eggs with buttered toast. I am not going to say all is right with the world, because I can read and it obviously bloody isn't. But it is better. Now for a cup of tea and the next whatever.

Since some of my friends will already be celebrating the passing of the year. I wish you all all the best for 2024. It will not be perfect - years rarely are - but I hope it brings you some light and laughter. And I hope the world will be a better place this time next year. Lots of love

is not well. Mr G had a cold last week - indeed he still has it - but I seem to have acquired some super version of it. I'm going back to bed. Play nicely.

For ten years now, I've been writing letters from Santa to my young relatives. To mark this decade, I wanted to include something really special, and after a lot of research into his workshop’s size, location and layout, I'm confident that this checks out. Hope they like it!
