People everywhere have dogs that seem untrainable for even simple things like house training and they don’t shoot them for it. They generally dump them at the pound or on some back road. (Still cruel but not psycho)

Right? A friend of mine has a dog that was bred and raised to be a hunting dog that was deemed unfit for the task and rehomed by her initial purchaser. Sure, not all dogs are pets, some are working dogs. But that doesn't mean you shoot them if they aren't good at the job you got them for.

One of my dogs was a failed herding dog. She was trained for 2 years and then dumped at the pound. She is a perfect pet.

My dog is a retired livestock guardian dog. The entire concept of training them to be perfect little automatons is antithetical to their purpose. She's a very good girl who makes her own choices.

I thought this sentence was about how she had to tell her kid about the dog being dead. Not so! Apparently she then "realized" she needed to also kill a goat.
