I warmly invite the people who go "It's more energy-efficient to cool off a hot place than it is to heat a cold place, therefore we'd be better off all moving to Phoenix or Houston" to strangle themselves with their own charging cords.

My only explanation for the way Janeway behaves in "Equinox" is that Queen Arachnia from "Bride of Chaotica" had rubbed off on her.

Felt bad that I knew Robert E. Lee's horse was named Traveller but I didn't know the name of Ulysses S. Grant's horse so I looked him up & his name was Cincinnati.

I'm not saying it's humid in our neck of the woods, but there's a little valve in the kitchen AC you're supposed to drain every 200 hours of operation & I am draining that bugger twice a day now.

Hard-to-swallow Pills Meme & the label is: "Your mother is a member of a vulnerable population and you are a member of a sensitive population so Not Doing Very Much is in fact the sensible course of action. The yard and the attic will still be there when the weather cools down. Drink some water."

Tried a little twenty-minute running in place session in the living room. On the one hand, I'm the last person you think would experience a runner's high but I *do* get one, on the other, sweat is somehow running into my earholes now.

Do these people writing Me Me Me parenting books realize that their kids will grow up & *read* the damned things?

an underrated plus of living in Boston is that absolutely no one believes this

It's not that there aren't things I'm good at, it's that I just don't know what I'm good at that other people would pay me money for.

My Mom got this out of the library so we are watching it. They were all so *beautiful*! 🛩️👩‍✈️💗
PBS Passport does not include this in its offerings of "The American Experience", which is plain old sexism. As a middle-aged feminist with Boomer Dad tastes, I demand WWII content about heroic women! www.pbs.org/wgbh/america...
Fly Girls | American Experience | PBSwww.pbs.org In the midst of WWII, the call went out: women with flight experience were needed to fly for the military. Women postponed their weddings, put their educations on hold, and quit their jobs to respond.

Meanwhile, on OG "All Creatures Great and Small", Siegfried is blowing his chance to be the racecourse vet by hanging out with a louche old pal in the beer tent. My Mom: Oh no! They're getting shit-faced! I'm a good woman at killing a bottle but simply not in the same league as 1930's Englishmen.

Anyway, if you want something forward to which to look, July 17 is Saint Marcellina's Day so my Mom & I will be watching a DVD of "Le Nozze di Figaro" & perhaps this might be a fun thing for you to do as well? We are a Bohm/Ponnelle household but the Gardiner one with Allison Hagley is good, too!

Drove my Mom to Erikson's & we re-fueled our Ice Cream Reserves. Then we came home & had an avocado which had been a bit too hard yesterday but was perfect today. I wish the weather weren't doing the thing where it rains but not heavily enough to clear the air or wash anything & then it's hot again

I cannot adequately express how deeply I resent the amount of time and energy I have had to spend thinking about these worthless people and the various rotten and criminal things they do.

Part of the problem is that when I'm cooking I envision myself cooking for a whole bunch of appreciative people who will have leisurely wonderful conversations over the food, like the scene in "French Kiss" where he goes & sees his family, but really it's just for my sad mother and myself.

I ran out after her going "Oh, did you take a mask?" & she was, like, I don't think I'll need one, so I am officially the Wet Blanket of the family.
My Mom is going out to a wake this afternoon so for dinner I am trying to think of something French that a) I can make with what I have in the fridge b) does not involve turning the oven on. Fortunately, the Internets have my back: www.thekitchn.com/how-the-fren...

Pretty sure when the shrink wrap on your salami has INFLATED & there are little droplets of liquid rolling around inside that's a "don't eat that" right there. Hélas! for my charcuterie plans.

Dammit, I *really* did not mean Shannen Doherty!
If we're going to lose Richard Simmons, Dr Ruth, & Shelley Duvall all at once why can we not balance the books by a couple of powerful people who made the world worse dropping off the old mortal coil to keep Inhofe company in Hell? (I know it doesn't work that way & I'm being a bad Christian.)

One thing I really appreciate about 19thC authors is that you always know where the money is coming from. Who's got an annuity, who needs to work, how much the rent is, are people still paying off their furniture. Later heroes have the superpower of "paying bills without apparently having jobs."

If you watch an episode or two of old "All Creatures Great and Small" & then a couple of episodes of "Key & Peele" you will have a very Dudes Rock evening.

Well, no new friends, but I made a new enemy (the person who honked at me five times for waiting at a red light instead of turning right at it when I couldn't see around the cars on my left to see oncoming traffic.)
Can't find my glasses so I am wearing a twenty-year-old pair with big round lenses & I'm never beating the "mid-1970s John Lennon lookalike" allegations. Maybe there'll be a beautiful concept artist at the dump who will fall for me?
