The question I have, @normative.bsky.social and @kenwhite.bsky.social, is whether this footnote complicates matters a bit.

[email protected] is one of the few noting there are *also* serious risks w/nominating alternative to Biden. As I suggested, we also can't be sure an alternative would fare better against Trump! Still, I lean toward thinking Bidens should take Q of whether he should withdraw a lot more seriously

Unlike many others On Here, I don't think there's a way for Biden to bow out without it leading to extreme risks of a very different kind. We need more of an acknowledgment from the replace-Biden camp that this is not a remotely easy dilemma. newrepublic.com/article/1832...

Amazing. This is how NYT describes Trump-MAGA's degenerate propaganda that cherry picks isolated awful killings to smear millions of undocumented immigrants with vile terms like "migrant crime." No context showing how absurd it is. No hint that it's historically dangerous language.

It's hard to overstate how ubiquitous the highlighting of "migrant crime" has become in right wing info spaces. Trump brings it up at rallies. MAGA lawmakers put it on T-shirts. Fox News puts mug shots on screens and highlights crimes in chyrons. 2/ newrepublic.com/article/1829...

Right now Trump/MAGA personalities are all hyping the horrific killing of a young Maryland mom. Fox reported that the alleged killer is a "gotaway," which is supposed to indict Biden. But this actually undermines their case, as I try to explain here. 3/ newrepublic.com/article/1829...

There's a key tell in the Fox/MAGA attacks on Biden's policy: They all try to change the subject back to *the border.* That's odd, because this policy is all about immigrants who have lived here for a decade or more. I've collected some of these attacks below. 2/ newrepublic.com/article/1828...

This is ugly stuff. Fox/MAGA personalities are linking Biden's policy to a horrific murder. RNC says the killing was done by a "BIDEN ILLEGAL." Fox is juxtaposing the new policy with footage of hordes swarming the border and even migrant mug shots. 3/ newrepublic.com/article/1828...

It's a disgusting smear. This policy will benefit 500,000 people who have lived in the US for at least a decade, are married to Americans, have deep roots in communities across the country, and in many cases are *raising American children.* 4/ newrepublic.com/article/1828...
