There's a weird story behind Hugh getting the job, but it largely boils down to Russell Crowe not knowing what a wolverine is and involves lots of cut scenes from Gladiator.
And Viggo Mortensen was a last-minute replacement for Aragorn!

This has happened to me like four times in the past six months
Omg. This has happened to me a LOT and usually with the "so and so with a name couldn't make the deadlines" and I'm like...hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Omg happened to me twice in one week and I was like "I don't exactly know how to feel?"
And I was a last-minute replacement for any responsible adult!
… not sure it’s working out though tbh.
