I propose a Stop Making History Day. A day of no legislation or policy announcements or court hearings or campaigning. Instead, a day of yard work, watching bad television, making love in rooms you hadn't considered before. A break from the daily drama (and trauma) of American political life.
A person who cannot function as President of the United States without breaking the criminal code is exactly the wrong person to be occupying that office.
Here's a photo of pretty Autumn colors in Vermont to remind my fellow Americans that we're a small state but we have lots of room and we're next to Canada.
Nobody being above the law falls into the self-evident truths category. Trump v US was the classic no-brainer. The easiest case all session. A 9-0 call, were we not trapped in a political bedlam. This is madness: complete, hallucinatory madness.
'Each evening, from December to December
Before you drift to sleep upon your cot
Think back on all the tales that you remember
Of Camelot'
- Frederick Loewe, Camelot (reprise)
“He’s just stayed too long in the job,” David Remnick muses between bites of Waverly Inn frittata, “and there’s a whole civilization at stake.”
Anna Wintour nods thoughtfully without looking away from the fireplace. “It’s about to rain,” she says.
