How many onomatopoeias did you audition before settling on "goosh?" It's signature-perfect, like the "goomph!" every time Vaughn Bodē's Cheech Wizard got kicked in the nuts.
Yo Steve! You're on here! Hell yeah. In terms of onomotapoeia's, my guiding light is of course, the wonderful Don Martin. If I try and come up with a sound effect, I think "What Would Don Martin Do?"
All the band guys in Minneapolis used to call a bad bass guitar note a "klune," from the sound the bass makes when the strap slips off the peg and it hits the floor.
Sizafitz is my all time favorite. 2nd is a panel in one of the Capt Klutz books where he jumps out of a window into his costume hanging in a clothes line, that then propels him upward. The sound is “gi-ying-ging”!
One of the best things about onomatopoeias is that in most comics they aren't translated, so foreign-language readers just articulate them in the pronunciation of their own language which makes them even punchier. Here a few in Italian.
