My husband and I were attacked today. Fortunately we were both wearing hats. I was even wearing two so I barely felt mine, but his head hurt for a while. The arctic tern makes a really menacing clicking sound when in attack mode. If you hear it, duck and run. Yikes and also good information! What does it do? Peck you on the head? Yep! Hard, too. They can draw blood. good - I didn’t when a very angry seagull once attacked me (while walking on the wind flats, so no clutches anywhere near…) Is it nesting season or are they just preternaturally aggressive? Nesting season. They are not being assholes, they are just really protective of their babies.
