Western Legends #boardgame Tiburcio Vasquez and Johnny Ringo battled it out from opposite sides of the law while Calamity Jane tried to make a go at mining and real estate; and the Man in Black roamed the West sowing chaos. WL is such a fun game that it plays well as a solo story adventure.

HistorySpouse and I are doing a DC, Harper’s Ferry, Shenandoah, Richmond trip in 10 days. We have the big stuff locked in, but need some suggestions for some non-DC 1-3hr excursions in that region. Any Eastern VA experts with suggestions?

Tried out a new #Boardgame yesterday… after poking around with it for a bit it just didn’t grab me. Then I went back to D-Day Dice, w/ only a couple of prior plays, and I really enjoyed it. Gaming session redeemed 🤓… despite the fact that my unit was completely eliminated b4 reaching the bunker 🫡

Early consumer console games really required a fair bit of player imagination to bridge the gap from the cover art to the play screen. 😂 But you know what… I’m pretty sure that the boy that was me actually saw the pic on the left in my head while playing the screen on the right. ‘80s magic 📺 🪄

Last day of paid work for the year. Finals over yesterday & graduation was last night. End of year 19… and I still ❤️ what I get to do. Going to spend a week doing as close to nothing as I can… then gear up for a summer of [unpaid] work learning and prepping to teach a new class. 🏖️ 📚🤓 #EduSky 🗺️

As the school year winds down (finals this week), I am 👀 my next challenge. I am bringing AP AfAm Studies to my school. 44 students are trusting me, and have signed up. I am both excited to teach this story, and also very aware that it is not my story… and I want to do it well. #EduSky 🗺️

Interrupted my ss project work to inform them history just happened… the number of presidents convicted of a felony has just increased to one. As I explained why, a student asks “which porn star.” 👀 After I declined to answer, some ss set about Googling… Out filters are going to get a workout.

This 🧵 ends up as a really intriguing video game rec list sourced heavily (but not exclusively) by academic gamers 🤓

Picked the #boardgame Pan-Am. It’s set in the golden era of commercial aviation (1920s-1960s). You play as a regional airline building out routes that can then be bought up by an expanding Pan-Am. The board is set on a polar-oriented 🗺️. And you get to place little airplanes around the world 🤓 👍👍

Played Wonderland’s War yesterday. The Mad Hatter triumphed over the Red Queen and the Jabberwocky. Love this #boardgame and not just bc I won after luring the Jabberwocky into a make or break battle in the Meadow of Living Flowers… and he broke 🤓

Dammit BlueSky… it’s the end of the school year and my defenses are worn down. Stop filling my feed with intentional and unintentional book recs that I am compelled by my own nature to buy. 📚💸💸💸

I love this story so much that I included it in my book of 50 Doctor Who stories to watch before you die. I think it's great for the reasons you cite (the recent history), but I just love how it's a mission statement for how Doctor Who is going to be now: fun, bold, intriguing, with actual emotions.
