Cool. Will there be shanties again?

I hope so, otherwise it’s a wasted opportunity.

It’s amazing what you can do with a 3D printer these days.

Is it true that the captain and first mate were arguing about the pronunciation of "Nene" at the time?

They've clearly got distracted pointing out the majestic peaks of East Anglia to each other.

I feel like there should be some more syllables to that name: Cambridgeshiretonheathmoor.

Pronounced ‘Cambthmr’.

All berths at Wisbech port are NAABSA berths which stands for 'not always afloat but safely aground’ I feel you, boat

For a long time, I wondered what the Bristol Floating Harbour was all about. Then I learnt that what was special was that ships stayed floating rather than grounding at low tide

I had no idea ships of this size came this far on inland waterways in England. Anyone here an expert? My particular question would be: where does a ship this big turn around on the Nene?
Avatar
I think at Wisbech, which was its destination?
Avatar
There's a wider bit on the downstream edge of Wisbech which looks to be about twice as wide. The Baltic Arrow is currently moored just upstream from that
Avatar
Yeah, I figured there must be somewhere like that around Wisbech; it’s a port, after all.
Avatar
Wisbech used to be much closer to the Wash and had a different river going through it (the Ouse) but things have changed since mediaeval times
Avatar
Yes, I gather they had to alter the course of the Nene to continue serving the town.

There's been a lot of ditch digging in the Fens over the centuries
