Might be interesting to calculate the average/median high when 90+ is achieved throughout the year (so we can see how extreme the heat was, ie a year like 40 days of 90-92 vs a year with 35 days of 90-100).
Growing up in CT in the ‘60’s, 40 miles from NYC, the critical temperature for a chance at 100F in Central Park was 93F at noon. 92F had a chance. June 27, 1966 was my first 100F experience (was 12 years old)…Central Park was 92F at noon that day.
