We did same, took them off went out. Came home they had gotten into the treat bag, dragged it under the bed and made piggies out of themselves. That was a fine mess to clean up.😏

Two of my three freeze when the harness is put on, as in not moving for 10 minutes. The third will move, but voice displeasure, loudly. It is just upset that something is on them. Never used a calming collar so unsure.

The beaches are covered by county EMS. So taxpayers pay the majority. It does bill the patient for transport, which if billed correctly insurance might cover some, but usually it is a red tape nightmare.
