Can you watch the third without having seen the first two?

"Pearl" is my favorite, but I can see why the filmmakers released "X" first; it needed that psycho-biddy shock value with zero audience prep. But when I rewatch, I watch "Pearl," then "X."

Ya they wrote the whole thing while shooting and stayed longer in new Zealand to immediately shoot it.

I'd never heard of 'X'; didn't know 'Pearl' was a prequel. Literally just watched the latter today! (Really liked it)

I could see that. I haven't seen Pearl yet (I only recently just saw X), but the reveal of Pearl doesn't really feel like a twist or anything, so watching the first two in either order wouldn't necessarily hurt, but it makes the threat of Pearl make more sense...right?
