Really enjoyed your BBFBP on Old House of Fear by the way, fascinated by the "not quite willing to commit to a James Bond style hero" subgenre of the 20th century Gothic

Thanks, man! I think we were both surprised by how charming that book was. It's a bit of a shame that Kirk didn't write more fiction.

Yeah, it reminded me that 1) I still haven't read Winston Churchill's Prisoner of Zenda knockoff and 2) the only Chapo I ever listened to they spent trashing, fucking TRASHING some conservative "intellectual"'s riotously bad Clancy-shaped novel

Honestly, I get nervous when people start alluding to different Chapo episodes like they are sections of the Silmarillion.

I think I'm lucky because...I can't imagine how important Chapo would've been to me if I were stuck in Fash Wallow Indiana as a young person in the 2010s and it was my only source for people like me talking sense and sounding cool. Those poor parasocial bastards, I feel for 'em.
