We did our first college tour yesterday with our teen and the startled look the admissions person gave us when I asked this question!
Of course, I don't expect a straight answer, and I'm not sure a faculty member would give a straight answer either unless you know them personally.
Heard about another university going under suddenly this week. Folks, if you are planning or know someone planning to go to college in the next few years, try to find faculty or staff at that institution that can give you the inside scoop, particularly if it’s a smaller or less wealthy school.
I'm not sure how many people would actually know the real situation either. The last two institutions that closed here in NYS showed few signs they were in peril. One announced closure very close to the end of the year after accepting a new class.
💯 that last part. I have serious concerns about the future of my previous institution but, frankly, even knowing most of the faculty and administrators I don’t think I would get a straight answer. Not that anyone is hiding anything. They don’t really know either.
