This is as per this morning news that may be old news by now.
Upon the unexpected win, most NFP members said the same. We will be in power, we will deliver our promises and our promises only.
Trouble is NFP has far fewer Députés than Macron party had before the election and at that time, the left attacked Macron party for forcing through policies despite not having a majority in Parliament.
The NFP was supposed to enter negotiations yesterday to try and decide on a would be Prime Minister but they gave up on having this meeting.
LFI (Mélenchon) and Socialists have roughly the same number of MPs and both want the job.
If LFI, it would be Mélenchon himself or what the journalist called a LFI puppet, guided entirely by Mélenchon.
There are several potential Socialist PM candidates.
But here's the rub. No matter what NFP says, governing on their own appears like a non starter. This unless they can enter into an agreement to have some support and protect themselves from a motion of no confidence.
Who can be their allies?
So a stalemate, what are the options? Get together and cobble together a coalition with some of the more moderate block of the left wing parties, or have another election where RN can say we are the only party that can form a government and win the most seats next time?
This is the risk indeed.
No matter what happens though, Le Pen will exploit the results of this snap election and chaos that may ensue as an additional argument to vote for RN at the next Presidential election. Will it work, I hope not.
