Good news: the Nazi wing of the GOP is disappointed in the Vance pick because he’s allegedly owned by Zionist overlords in Israel

I think we should all feel proud of the male Lionesses tonight. It's not that long ago that reaching a final was pretty much inconceivable, so it's great to see the men finally catching up with the women.

Interesting thread about procedural issues with electing a new Tory leader now that there aren't so many MPs left : (a) It now only takes 19 Tory MPs to trigger a leadership contest. (b) There aren't currently enough Tory MPs to nominate more than one leadership candidate.

This.
Some initial thoughts on the UK elections. 1. It confirms once again that when a center-right party veers to the hard right to weaken the far right, it ends up doing the opposite. After purging moderates and going full-on wingnuts and fever swamp, the Tories got decimated by Reform, not Labour. 🧵

This is quite incredible 👇🏼
Through my childhood, on election nights, my dad was the man under Peter Snow’s desk putting interesting facts on notecards into his socks. That’s how it was done before Google, kids. You got a very clever ASD man with some Oxford degrees to just remember interesting constituency histories.

So, I think when my editor asked me to do a long list of Tory policy screw ups since 2010, he was expecting something funny? The reality was... not particularly funny.
An (incomplete) list of every terrible policy the Conservatives have inflicted on Britain since 2010 | Jonn Elledgewww.theguardian.com Readers, brace yourselves, says the writer Jonn Elledge

All-purpose social media post: Dear USians, the British lot are posting about our *own* elections. Which are happening this Thursday. Do stop descending upon the comments and going on about November, you're only embarrassing yourselves.

We probably ought to have a conversation about a partisan court declaring Trump above the rule of law that is at least as intense as the one we've had about Joe Biden being very old.

tbh I think the explanation is much closer to the second than the first - people vote fascist when the fascists are the only ones who are even pretending to listen to them. the big thing that the political class has forgotten is that not being listened to is absolutely intolerable for humans

“Hungary takes the reins” - “Hungary at the helm” - etc etc - once again please I beg you stop confusing ‘presidency’ ie chairing meetings with actual executive power. Hardly any of the EU’s many, many presidents or presidencies actually involve any executive role, they chair meetings, THAT’S ALL

If you’re wondering if Ed Davey’s antics pay off in terms of positive media coverage for the Lib Dems, Sky News just cut away from a discussion of England’s Euros prep to show Ed bungee-jumping.

You know what's crazy is you could easily write a historically compelling op-ed about how Trump should end his campaign because he's a convicted criminal who tried to overthrow the government and is only on the ballot/out of prison because of extremely corrupt judges he personally appointed

Just last year, Sunak wouldn’t rule out welcoming Farage into the Tory party. The Tories have pandered to the far right, absorbed the far right, become the far right. Obsessed with forced deportations, demonising immigrants, whipping up hatred and division. They fed the monster.
