VANILLA SKY is the one where I can feel an absurdly high-rated review rumbling up; who the hell even talks about that movie but I think it’s a masterpiece, and maybe the one vampiric American remake of a recent foreign film that built on it wonderfully and ended up far better

the only thing i can watch TC in

It's functionally an extended visual essay on how Tom Cruise's own charisma is a constructed, weaponized edifice (Magnolia gets this too) and punishes him for it. And it lets Carmen Diaz get creepy.

she’s so good 😅 in being john malkovich too

No, it's better than the original, down to Penelope Cruz giving a better performance even though she's playing the same character from the prior version.

Is it possible to get too relaxed…wait V the Bollywood movie?

Lol, no the original V miniseries. I was thinking it started with a TV movie but Google has shown that to be false.

Could've done V for Vendetta I guess.

I love this list! (And I liked Vanilla Sky, too.)

Oh, man. I've Loved You So Long (2008) is so great. I've not seen much talk about it except from me. 👏

husband didn’t like it a lot because he’d seen this story before, says he, but it was new enough on me to love how well it’s done. Kristin Scott Thomas is magnificent, that her French is so good loses its novelty fast

I'm just here for the I've Loved You So Long love, too. I had to recommend that one, because it shows that Thomas is just god-tier when given the right material.

So well said. I had no idea at the start and the end I was in a trance.
