OK, here is one of my favorite bird sightings ever. It's called an Oilbird or Guácharo. These birds live in caves and grottos in South America and are the only nighttime flying fruit-eating birds in the world. They can navigate like bats, using echolocation!
Thanks! This was a little roadside grotto with natural light coming in from above and I was the only person there. Felt amazing to just be there with them. They're not uncommon, but a unique and interesting species.
