Posting for my immunocompromised friends: Pemgarda, a prophylactic monoclonal antibody for Covid, is now available. I was able to get it through U of Utah. It’s apparently an infusion and you have to get it every three months (which hopefully means they are also tweaking it for current strains).
My insurance seems to be covering it. I’m not excited for a 3.5 hour infusion but I’m excited to have a bit more protection from Long Covid. Related: wastewater is showing a spike in infections right now. We seem to have hit the summer spike.
I think the infusion is only an hour but then they make you stay for observation for two hours because some people had allergic reactions to it/anaphylaxis. It was approved with an EUA and hasn’t gone through extensive trials. But it’s a tweak on Evusheld so I am not worried.
