They don't mean unpleasant for the victim. They mean unpleasant for them that they will have to be the ones doing it.

Well sure. Assassination does take a toll on people eventually. Sort of like when the people who carry out executions of prisoners need a break and can’t do too many in one year.

The writer of this opinion maintains a real "us or them" attitude toward politics, where it's a winner take all game. Hater boys will cheat to win.

Exactly. The attitude has become an extreme polarity; either I win, and you are jailed, deported, stripped of your rights, etc. OR you win and we will burn it all down.
