Kevin Roberts believes he’s a noble defender of “real America” against a totalitarian “woke,” “globalist” assault from without and within. “Project 2025” is his declaration of war on multiracial pluralism. I wrote about his extremist worldview here: 1/ thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/project-20...

I came to my 14 year old with a concern about social media. He literally took his glasses off, rubbed his temples, and asked: “what have the moms on the internet said now?” 😯🫤😆

They need to get that this isn't just a talking point to talk past, but that their campaign is in trouble and they need a campaign reset. If they're willing to do that, great, better late than never, lfg

Yes. I will not try to talk you into voting, or not voting third party, because I know it’s largely pointless on the Internet, but I absolutely will not entertain that shit in my mentions.
I won’t take a run at others for these tales, but part of that contract is that anyone who takes a run at me for talking on my own about how Trump must be stopped catches a swift and decisive block

That’s the predictably convenient thing about the left. Our sincere concern about the people we elect to office never fails to be weaponized against us.
Notice how everyone is somehow talking about Biden Too Old right now, and NOT about how the Supreme Court just legalized Trump being a dictator for life and gutted the administrative state, and how the Heritage Foundation is now issuing terrorist threats? Think that might not be an accident?

The Heritage Foundation is absolutely making overt terrorist threats and everyone you know needs to be aware of this.
Somebody else pointed earlier that the "bloodless if the leftists allow" (paraphrasing) bullshit sentence, is a clear terrorist threat and should probably be called like this.

This has been a thorn in my side re: the American political landscape; countless articles bemoaning the polarization of America and the loss of civility. As a queer person, it’s hard to see a path to compromise and civility when the right wing has been openly saying I shouldn’t exist my entire life.
A common lament is there is no civility left these days, because those on the “left” refuse to be friends with the “right" over "political views." This implies something startling: conservatives want to be friends with the rest of us. Had you realized? www.the-reframe.com/if-you-want-...
If You Want To Be Friends, Then Why Aren’t You Friendly?www.the-reframe.com A look at one of the most alarming and pressing problems of our age: the much-lamented fact that "the left" won't be friends with "the right," over "political views."

Another reason to read past headlines: I detail — briefly, in an easy-to-read fashion — how Republicans spent decades gunning for dictator-levels of power for a GOP president. Receipts! I got 'em. www.salon.com/2024/07/03/g...
Republican glee over "immunity" decision shows they don't fear Donald Trump — they desire a dictatorwww.salon.com Trump has threatened to have people killed, and GOP politicians aren't bothered in the slightest

it is absolutely a terrible precedent, yes but they have the veto already, is the thing - if this is how the race is covered from now until Election Day, Biden loses, full stop “drop out or we sink your campaign” - the latter is already happening and that’s why the former will
There are large and immediate downside risks to giving the media a heckler’s veto **after the primary process** has already ended. I don’t think people are grappling with the implications here!

Every day proves Thaddeus Stevens right: there should've been big Nuremberg-style public trials of leading Confederates, accompanied by seizures of the assets of all pro-Confederate large landowners and businessmen, which should then have been distributed to freed slaves as compensation.

“Unpleasant things” is one heck of a circumlocution.
I've been thinking about this post from the Claremont Institute, a Trumpist think tank, ever since the SCOTUS immunity ruling. Wonder what "unpleasant things" the Trumpists have in mind. open.substack.com/pub/joelmmat...

I don’t think the concerns are based on nothing either - we all (well, the sickos among us) watched the debate, it’s a real issue my point is that it has become the only issue, and means it can’t be addressed Biden will never be able to convince people at this point, even if he is capable
To hell with the New York Times, but I don't think these concerns are manufactured. Progressive spaces like TNR and Zeteo expressed immediate concern about Biden after the debate. But so did Never-Trump allies. The move to seriously grapple with stepping down is broad and organic.

There is also every reason to think that this court will expand Trump v. U.S in his second term to extend immunity to those doing his bidding. I.e., “Our holding in Trump v. U.S. demands that government officials be able to enact the will of the executive without fear of criminal proceedings.”

pretty distressing shit on the surface, and also! if they thought victory was assured they wouldnt have to try and message it into reality like this. this is a think tank pivoting to a war propaganda posture believe them when they say it's war though. dont lie down and let them make it a massacre

Prediction: Trump will argue that his NY conviction must be overturned because the court admitted evidence of conversations he had with his staff while President in order to prove knowledge and intent. He will argue those conversations were “official acts.” Judge Merchan and higher NY courts …./1

When all of the Proper (legal, political, and institutional) Remedies are off the table it does not take societies long to figure out what the only Remedy they have left is, and I wonder if the Court put any thought into that!
